Enviri (NYSE: NVRI) lifts guidance after a $47 million EBITDA quarter

What happened

Enviri Corporation (NYSE: NVRI) said revenue held at $325 million while Adjusted EBITDA rose to $47 million.

That matters because the quarter showed stronger earnings on flat sales, and management raised 2026 outlooks for Harsco Environmental and Harsco Rail after both beat expectations.

GAAP consolidated income from continuing operations was $6 million. The result included a gain from the rail contract exit and restructuring charges tied to the internal improvement program.

Management said both businesses posted their highest quarterly earnings in about two years. The company is targeting about $40 million in earnings benefits over the next two years.

Why it matters

OptimistFi has argued that Enviri's equity value depends less on simple top-line growth than on proving the business can turn assets into cash and reduce balance-sheet risk.

This quarter supports that view. Consolidated Adjusted EBITDA margin widened to 14.4% from 11.9%, a 2.5 percentage point gain that shows more operating leverage than the revenue line alone.

The counterweight is cash use. Operating activities used $7 million, and adjusted free cash flow was negative $18 million in the quarter.

That leaves the turnaround unfinished, even after the earnings improvement, because the business still needs to show that stronger margins can produce cash.

Segment details

Harsco Environmental posted $273 million of revenue, $20 million of operating income and $50 million of Adjusted EBITDA.

The company said higher volumes and services pricing drove the increase, and the segment's margin improved to 18.2% from 17.0%.

Harsco Rail generated $52 million of revenue, $19 million of operating income and $1 million of Adjusted EBITDA.

Lower volumes, including equipment volumes after exits from Network Rail and Deutsche Bahn contracts, drove the revenue decline. Even so, the segment moved out of an Adjusted EBITDA loss.

Balance sheet and cash

Cash and cash equivalents were $226.31 million at Sept. 30, while long-term debt was $381.23 million and total assets were $1.73 billion.

Harsco Rail repaid $73 million of customer advances, received $8 million from GBM and expects up to another $34 million in coming quarters.

Those receipts matter because they turn contract exits into cash inflows, but part of the money is still ahead.

The balance-sheet gap still matters to holders because the case depends on turning earnings into cash, not just reporting better margins.

What's next

Enviri said it will hold a conference call today at 9.00 a.m. Eastern Time.

Investors will look for confirmation that the raised outlooks hold and that contract receipts and operating gains keep moving cash in the right direction.
