Why it matters

Organic sales also rose 44%. New products added about 30 points of the growth, according to the release. Maverick Power, which adds a power distribution platform for data centers, closed Oct. 1, after the quarter ended.

OptimistFi calculates that net margin widened to 13.4% from 11.5% a year earlier because net income of $202.4 million grew faster than sales. Last year's $121.2 million included $2.2 million from discontinued operations. Gross margin slipped to 35.8% from 37.4%, but selling, general and administrative costs fell to 15.6% of sales from 19.7%.

Systems Protection sales rose 53% to $1.1 billion. Electrical Connections sales rose 23%, while its adjusted return on sales eased to 28.2% from 30.0%.

OptimistFi has argued that nVent's product portfolio and acquisitions can produce durable growth and cash generation. The quarter supports that view.

The pace will slow, though. Management guides fourth-quarter organic sales growth to 26% to 29%. The release's reconciliation puts acquisitions at 19 points of guided reported growth.

What's next

For the fourth quarter, nVent guides reported sales growth of 45% to 48%, GAAP EPS of $1.13 to $1.16 and adjusted EPS of $1.30 to $1.33. The fourth-quarter 2026 earnings release is the next test.

Organic growth inside the guided range with margins holding would strengthen the case. A shortfall would weaken it. A regular dividend of $0.21 per share is payable Nov. 6.
