Why it matters

The filing shows stronger demand and a better liquidity position. Revenue, unit revenue and customer counts all moved higher. Available liquidity rose from $3 billion to $5 billion under the expanded revolving credit facility, a $2 billion increase. That gives the airline more room to fund network and product investments while keeping leverage in view.

The release also shows clear pressure points. Fuel expense rose $1.8 billion from third-quarter 2025. Free cash flow was negative $1.84 billion. Adjusted EBITDA fell to $2.03 billion from $2.08 billion a year earlier. Total debt, finance lease obligations and other financial liabilities were $26.4 billion at quarter end.

What's next

United will hold a conference call on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. CDT and 10:30 a.m. EDT to discuss third-quarter results and the outlook for the fourth quarter and beyond. The main question is whether management still expects Q4 total operating revenue growth above 20%.

Later milestones are already on the calendar. United expects Starlink availability to reach 61% by the end of 2026, 87% by June 1, and fleet-wide by the end of 2027. It also said service to 10 new destinations is planned to start in summer 2027, subject to government approval.
