Starbucks Coffee, headquartered in nearby Jennersville, has been busy hosting a variety of community orientated activities. And now, they're reaching out to Lincoln University.

Opened since Nov. 1, 2007, the drive-through coffee café has had a steady stream of customers, including many Lincoln students, faculty and staff.

"Serving the community allows us to get to know the community and our customers," says Yvette Dively, manager of the Jennersville store. "We want to serve our customers in the most personal way. Most companies don't offer the quality and community service that we do."

Every Thursday, Starbucks Coffee in conjunction with the Avon Grove Library hosts storytelling for children. Along with coffee events geared towards teaching people how to make better coffee at home, the store also offers live music performances and services that offer Oxford elderly residents help with managing their bills.

The initiatives are all part of Starbucks' outreach efforts. Quarterly, the employees volunteer, performing yard work, painting, litter clean-up as they encourage others in the community to act on the cause.

"Starbucks has a corporate budget which donates money to non-profit organizations," says Dively. "It's like matching a donation. They recognize the value of our time."

Aside from just helping the Oxford/ Jennersville community, Dively says that she would like to partner with Lincoln University students and faculty and wants to serve as a hosting location for board meetings, and student-centered events.

"Come talk to me. I need people to let me know what the needs are," says Dively.

For more information on hosting an event, meeting or activity at Starbucks Coffee in Jennersville, Pa., contact Yvette Dively at (610) 869-6230.
