Homosexuality has been taboo long for years. Homosexuality in the Christian church has struck a nerve for many church officials and it's congregations in recent years. The media has dedicated research and special documentaries on homosexuals more recently. Is homosexuality a sin and acceptable in the Christian church? The answer is being revealed to all that study the Bible, not in the results of many heated disagreements and incorrect teachings of pastors who welcome homosexuality in the church for profit and popularity.
As I watched BET's Meet the Faith television show, which allows preachers, psychologist and socially conscious celebrities to voice their opinions. Keith Boykin renowned author of "My Two Cents" implied the Bible is being used to support anti-homosexual discrimination.
Leviticus 20:13 in the New Century Bible says, "If a man has sexual relations with another man as a man does with a woman, these two men have done a hateful sin."
In this scripture the Bible does not support discrimination it simply states the homosexual act is a sin. Not once does the bible or God promote hate. God tells us what he hates in the Bible, but he loves his people and despises the sins we commit.
When sinful acts and behavior are questioned, the public has a tendency to interpret the Bible to be in the favor of what they would like. They negate the true essence of what the Bible says.
Often people misunderstand the commandments of God. Although Christians may view homosexual individuals in the church as the greatest sin of all, God does not see any sin greater than the next.
Homosexuality is a sin. If people studied the Bible and sought to have a close relationship with God, they would understand the Bible more. God gives understanding to those who seek it. "Seek and ye shall find" Luke 11:9 King James Version Bible
"I know a lot of people that go to church that are homosexual," said Jordean Matthews, a junior at Lincoln University.
