Homosexuality and the Church

Alicia C. Beach

Issue date: 11/28/07 Section: Opinion
There are many people who have grown up in the Christian church who are homosexual, and love God.

In John 15:7 in the New Century Bible, God said "If you remain in me and follow my teachings, you can ask anything you want and it will be given unto you."

I believe if a Christian who knows and follows God asks for forgiveness and a change of heart concerning their attraction to men or women, God will give them this very desire of their heart.

"Homosexuals can be Christians that love the Lord. Until they are ready to give up that lifestyle, no preacher can convert their sexuality," said Aziza Johnson a sophomore student at Lincoln University.

Author Elaine Sundby of online commentary "Calling the Rainbow Nation Home" said: "What matters is whether you believe in Jesus Christ or not, and accepted him as your Lord and Savior."

I say, accepting and confessing is very important, but once you confess Jesus as your savior you serve him in your deeds and totally commit your life. When you believe and love God, you will follow all that He commands and will not dissect His word to cater to the worldly shortcomings and sins.
