The Lincoln University Women's basketball team begins its season with an HBCU reunion hosting Bowie State, St. Paul's College and Wilberforce University in their annual James A. Richardson Tip-Off Tournament scheduled to take place on November 16th & 17th.
Although Lincoln University is a small college, it is a big name in the track and field world. Winning seventeen national championships under Hall of Fame inductee, Coach Cyrus D. Jones, the track program is one of the most elite in the country. Roland Whiting, a Philadelphia native, was not only apart of five of the seventeen national championships as a runner, he has now come back to Lincoln as an assistant coach, and was an asset to the men's indoor championship in 2006.
A brilliant game against Mount Olive College has earned Lincoln University men's star soccer player, Peter Jarbo, The Lincolnian player of the week honors. The left-footed dynamic midfielder scored his 50th career goal during a 2-1 defeat to Mount Olive College.
What some may call a rough season, with a record, of 2-11-5, the accomplishments of the women's soccer team subdues the losses of the 2007 season. The team scored 25 goals, instituting a new school record for most goals in a season. The preceding mark was 20, which was set by the 2006 team.
