General Information
The Lincolnian is a student-run publication that is supported by the English and Mass Communications Department at Lincoln University. The newspaper is published and updated online weekly. A paper edition will be published at least once every academic school year.
The newspaper's primary purpose is to inform the college community and to give students a voice for their issues. The paper also serves as a training ground for students interested in pursuing journalism careers. Since The Lincolnian is a student newspaper, news content will generally concentrate on issues concerning or relevant to the university community.
Since not every story can be covered or included, the editorial staff reserves the right to determine what is of most interest to the university community as a whole. The Lincolnian staff strives to report the news as accurately as possible and without bias. The code of ethics adopted and followed by the newspaper staff prohibits any staff member from working on a news article if that person has a vested interest in the article's subject.
The editorial board decides the content of each edition and are responsible for their individual news, feature, opinions, and sports pages with the editor-in-chief reserving the power of final determination. The advisor of The Lincolnian is frequently consulted throughout the process. Unsigned editorials appearing in the paper represent the opinions of a three-fourths majority of the editors.
